Among others, your tasks will include:

  • Assisting in photo reportage for events, meetings, and official activities
  • Supporting photo collection and archive management, including cataloguing and organising visual assets
  • Assisting in photo editing and retouching to ensure visual consistency and quality
  • Contributing to the creation of visuals for social media, including image selection, formatting, and content preparation
  • Supporting the design and production of presentations for internal and external use
  • Assisting in video editing, including cuts, transitions, and formatting for distribution
  • Supporting the production of publications, including layout, design, and formatting
  • Supporting poster printing and distribution, including coordination with printing services
  • Assisting in poster design and layout for events, campaigns, and internal communication
  • Contributing to the design and formatting of document templates and internal reports

Qualifications

Only applications meeting all essential selection criteria will be assessed.

  • Essential:
  • A university degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Videography/Motion Graphics, Multimedia, Communications, Journalism, User Experience (UX) or a closely related field.
  • Proven professional experience in visual communication, multimedia production, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom, or equivalent tools and techniques.
  • Desirable:
  • Additional studies, courses, or training in Photography, Digital Arts, Communication Design, or other relevant fields.
  • Experience in working with established visual guidelines and maintaining brand identity across communication materials.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects, or similar design and animation software.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to produce engaging visual materials for various channels (e.g. presentations, social media, posters, internal communications).
  • Familiarity with procedures related to classified or sensitive working environments.
  • Experience in applying AI tools and techniques for visual or multimedia content creation.

Skills and Competences

  • Essential:
  • Practical knowledge of photography equipment, including camera operation, lighting, and grip setups.
  • Strong sense of visual composition, style, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated reliability, proactivity, and ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Desirable:
  • Flexibility and willingness to support a wide range of audiovisual and communication-related tasks.

All essential and desirable criteria are evaluated so as to identify the most suitable candidates.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all of the following eligibility criteria by the closing date for submitting applications:

  • A recent university diploma or being in the last year of the university degree
  • Be a national of one of the Member States of the Union and enjoy their full rights as citizen
  • Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of English (at least level B2 ), the working language of SatCen, and of a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU to the extent necessary for the performance of their duties
  • Hold a security clearance at least at the level of EU SECRET, or equivalent. In case the successful candidate is not in possession of such a clearance at the time of submitting an application, the SatCen will request it, and no appointment will be fully confirmed until the security clearance has been received by the competent national authority. In addition and during the selection procedure, candidates will need to declare any particular circumstances, which could be in conflict with the performance of their duties at SatCen.

As the SatCen is situated in an air force base outside of Madrid, with limited access by public transport to the entrance of the base and no public transport on the base itself, a driving licence is highly desirable. It is the duty of any staff member to get to the office by its own means.

Conditions

  • Health Insurance needs to be organised by the trainee and proof of cover must be provided to the SatCen.
  • SatCen is offering:
  • Monthly subsistence allowance: 1275 €, plus a travel allowance as applicable to SatCen staff members (2026 = 217.45 €)
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses upon starting and ending the traineeship under specific conditions
  • Upon presentation of the proper medical justification and costs incurred, disabled trainees may receive a supplement to their allowance equal to a maximum of 50% of the amount of the allowance due to additional costs they may have to make
  • Annual Leave: 2.5 days per month
  • Duration: 6-month assignment (renewable once).
