About the Program
The University of Alcalá (UAH), in collaboration with the Centre for Astrobiology (CAB/INTA-CSIC), offers doctoral research opportunities in Space Research and Astrobiology.
The program combines expertise in space technology, heliophysics, astrobiology, planetary science, and space instrumentation, with strong links to ESA, NASA, and international research institutions.
Research areas include:
Space technology and instrumentation
Space missions and microsatellites
Embedded systems and autonomous robotics
Heliosphere physics and space weather
Solar energetic particles and cosmic rays
Sun–Earth interactions
Astrobiology and planetary exploration
Researchers within the program participate in major international missions and collaborations including Solar Orbiter, ExoMars, Curiosity REMS, PLATO, James Webb Space Telescope instrumentation, and other ESA/NASA projects.
The program is hosted by the University of Alcalá in Madrid, Spain, together with the Centre for Astrobiology (CAB), an internationally recognized astrobiology institute affiliated with INTA and CSIC.
Requirements
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as:
Physics
Astronomy or Astrophysics
Aerospace Engineering
Computer Engineering
Mathematics
Astrobiology
Related scientific or engineering disciplines
Strong English skills and research motivation are expected.
