Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanicaldesignteam is looking foracurious and motivatedmechanical design engineerwho willbe contributingto thedesign and development of nano and micro satellitesas well as their subsystemmechanicalR&D.

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:Support business development department with the design of preliminary satellite level and/or subsystem level layout and feasibility studies at pre-contract stageDesign and develop satellites and their mechanical subsystemsDesign static as well as dynamic parts and mechanismsAssist simulation engineers by preparing (defeaturing) CAD geometry for FEAParticipate in design reviews, present the work done and collect feedback from colleagues as well as customersPrepare manufacturing drawings and arrange manufacturing with external suppliersPerform quick and simple structural and thermal calculations to justify design decisionsDesign testing equipment for satellites and their subsystemsProcess raw test data, analyze results, write test reports, and manage test related documentationWe expect you to have:Have a passion for space engineering and a desire to learn fastHave a degree in mechanical/mechatronics/aerospace engineering or equivalentHave a good understanding of machine elements, materials engineering, manufacturing technology, mechanics of materials, structures and solids, heat transfer, thermodynamics, dynamic loadsHave at least 2-year experience in 3D modelling with SolidWorks or equivalentHave prior work experience in mechanical design or related positionHave experience with 2D engineering drawings and good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Have good hands – on skills with measurement, inspection, assembly and other toolsHave good English language skills (at least B1)Enjoy working in a team and independentlyNice to have:Work/internship experience in space industryFamiliarity with ECSS and NASA standards/handbooksExperience in precision engineeringExperience in structural/thermal FEA simulationsProgramming skills (Java, Python)Experience in microcontrollers (Arduino, others) programming, system real time control, physical data (temperature, pressure, force, distance, etc.) acquisition, data processingSalarySalary starts from 2950to 4000 gross/per monthThe final offer will depend on the level of competencies and experienceApply

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop satellites and their mechanical subsystems
  • Design static as well as dynamic parts and mechanisms
  • Assist simulation engineers by preparing (defeaturing) CAD geometry for FEA
  • Participate in design reviews, present the work done and collect feedback from colleagues as well as customers
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings and arrange manufacturing with external suppliers
  • Perform quick and simple structural and thermal calculations to justify design decisions
  • Design testing equipment for satellites and their subsystems

We expect you to have:

  • Have a passion for space engineering and a desire to learn fast
  • Have a degree in mechanical/mechatronics/aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • Have a good understanding of machine elements, materials engineering, manufacturing technology, mechanics of materials, structures and solids, heat transfer, thermodynamics, dynamic loads
  • Have at least 2-year experience in 3D modelling with SolidWorks or equivalent
  • Have prior work experience in mechanical design or related position
