Position: Ground-to-Space Digital Telecoms System SEM/Architect — Rome, Italy
Main Role
As a System Engineer / Architect in the field of end-to-end (E2E) telecommunications systems and ground tools, you will provide specialized engineering expertise across all phases of the space project lifecycle — from design specification and manufacturing to integration, verification, and operations.
- Contribute to the design and analysis of E2E systems and ground segment components.
- Define and develop Ground Tools aimed at improving E2E system performance (e.g., interference detection, mission planning, signal analysis).
- Perform detailed system and subsystem performance analyses (e.g., link budget, BER, coverage, pointing loss, distortions, resource allocation, mission planning simulation).
- Define software requirements and validate software products related to ground systems and secure TTC systems.
Experience and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Physics (specialization in Telecommunications or RF Electronics preferred).
- 2–4 years of related experience in RF or space system engineering.
- Knowledge of payload architectures, RF design, repeater subsystems, and antenna systems.
- Experience with link budgets, waveform design, modulation/coding (ModCod), and telecom protocols (5G, DVB, etc.).
- Familiar with RF performance measurement, integration testing, and quality control processes.
- Experience with UHF/L-Band technologies and IoT architecture concepts is a plus.
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as STK, Satsoft, and MATLAB.
- Programming experience (Java, C, Simulink) is a valuable asset.
- Excellent written and spoken English; Italian nationality preferred.
- Willingness to work part-time at customer premises (Vigna di Valle) is a strong advantage.
