Global satellite operator; UK presence is the former Inmarsat business.

Viasat is a US satellite-communications company founded in 1986. In 2023 it acquired London-based Inmarsat, the mobile satcom operator set up in 1979 for maritime safety. The combined group provides broadband, aviation, maritime, and government connectivity; the UK remains a major operating base.
