European Data Protection Assistant - Local Contract
The SatCen is seeking suitable candidates for a local contract for the position of European Data Protection Assistant.
The European Data Protection Assistant reports to the Head of Legal Services and is mainly responsible for assisting the Legal Team and DPO in providing data protection support in the EU environment.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
Closely collaborating with staff in the Data Protection Team;
Conducting a variety of data protection and Artificial Intelligence assignments under the direction of the DPO of SatCen;
Conducting a variety of data protection assignments and support;
Conducting research on data protection and AI issues, using existing EU data protection law files and alternative sources (e.g., internet, intranet and/or other databases), analysing information, and summarizing findings;
Conducting comparative EU data protection legal analyses and policies on a range of issues in a given area, identifying issues, researching relevant precedents, and proposing appropriate solutions;
Assisting in the handling of EU data protection and EU AI regulatory compliance;
Assisting in the handling of EU data protection and EU AI matters in implementing policies and procedures in those fields.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
A level of education that corresponds to a completed university degree of at least four years attested by a diploma in law;
A minimum of 1 year of professional experience, preferably in EU Data Protection and EU AI regulation; • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;
Awareness of classified working environment procedures.

A sound knowledge of EU and Data Protection law, as well as Artificial Intelligence Act.
Excellent research and analysis skills.

Excellent team-working and inter-personal skills,
Ability to take initiative, work independently and with cross-functional teams.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly for drafting and summarising texts.
Desirable:
Working knowledge of Spanish.
Awareness of confidentiality measures and procedures applied to a working environment. All essential and desirable criteria are evaluated so as to identify the most suitable candidates.
ELEGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all of the following eligibility criteria by the closing date for submitting applications:
Be a national of one of the Member States of the Union and enjoy their full rights as citizen;
Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of English (at least level B2 ), the working language of SatCen, and of a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU to the extent necessary for the performance of their duties;
In addition, candidates must:
Hold a security clearance at least at the level of EU SECRET, or equivalent. In case the successful candidate is not in possession of such a clearance at the time of submitting an application, the SatCen will request it, and no appointment will be fully confirmed until the security clearance has been received by the competent national authority. In addition, and during the selection procedure, candidates will need to declare any particular circumstances which could be in conflict with the performance of their duties at SatCen.
Be physically fit to perform their duties. Prior to the appointment the successful candidate will be medically examined to fulfil the requirement of Article 6 of the SatCen Staff Regulations;
As the SatCen is situated in an air force base outside of Madrid, with limited access by public transport to the entrance of the base and no public transport on the base itself, a driving licence is highly desirable. It is the duty of any staff member to get to the office by its own means.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Local staff are personnel recruited for limited periods. In this case – 6 months.
Local staff contracts do not have the status of international staff and are subject to the laws and regulations of the host State (Spain) where they are employed.
Gross salary of € 33.120,00 per annum (14 prorated payments in 12 monthly payments) will be subject to Spanish income tax and social security costs.
